This
is same movie in gif file form showing the arm, thrower and dart
an enhanced with colors.
*The dart tip remains steady throughout the throw.
*It really shows the atlatl NOT making a rounded "baseball"
type throw as many describe it.
*It shows the atlatl actually making a pulling straight line motion
as it propels the dart.
*Just as the dart begins to flex, the atlatl appears to be forced
slightly downward.
Is this a good thing, or bad? Does the bannerstone help to limit
this motion and force the initiation of the dart flex?
*The dart flexes upwards at first then rapidly
downward to compensate for the slight rise in the spur at the moment
of detachment.
This
is why proper spine in a dart is critical.
*Note that the dart's center of gravity NEVER leaves it's strait
line course.
* Note that the dart is not lifted or thrusts upwards at the end
of the throwing motion.
A picture is truly worth a thousand words! It's
really interesting! Take a close look at this.
